Get UGLIE at the game this weekend!

This weekend Canterbury of New Zealand is calling on all supporters of any sporting code to join them in celebrating UGLIES. Bringing UGLIES back to its grass roots level, Canterbury of New Zealand is celebrating its global success by even creating its own UGLIES family, complete with mum, dad, kids and Sid the family dog!
The long sleeved UGLY jersey holds a special place in the heart of kiwis; the mismatched, colourful and unashamedly ‘loud’ long sleeved rugby jersey, originally a training jersey here, has become a favourite with rugby fans around the world. To celebrate UGLIES success, Canterbury of New Zealand is on the hunt for New Zealand’s UGLIES Family.
This weekend, sporting fans are being encouraged to take a family snap at any sporting game that incorporates an UGLIES element in the photo (i.e. mismatched clothing, supporter clothing from head to toe, crazy hairstyles etc – nothing disgusting please!) and upload it to The Original UGLIES Facebook page, they may even win some Canterbury of New Zealand UGLIES gear!

Canterbury of New Zealand is asking sporting families to post images of them on The Original Uglies facebook page - and to go into a prize draw.
The Canterbury of New Zealand UGLY jersey holds a special place in the heart of kiwis; the mismatched, colourful and unashamedly ‘loud’ long sleeved rugby jersey, originally a training jersey here, has become a favourite with rugby fans around the world.
With global sales surging, now Canterbury of New Zealand is bringing UGLY back home, with new styles to match all codes and personalities including short sleeved polo’s, hoodies, beanies, socks, and other accessories right through to the infamous long sleeve rugby shirt – all which proudly incorporate aspects of the UGLY style.
Marketing and Sponsorship Manager for Canterbury of New Zealand, Colin Gibson says “Everyone knows the UGLY. The UGLY history began in the early 1970s; Canterbury of New Zealand was supplying rugby kit to so many teams around the world that its factories were left with a problem: what should they do with the bits and pieces of fabric that were used to make the many different jerseys of these teams? Mal Corboy talks about kitchens
His kitchens, which he admits are fancy and certainly not cheap, with an average price tag of $80,000, grace substantial homes around the world, but Mal Corboy moved to New Zealand as a train driver.
So how did he end up becoming one of the world’s top kitchen designers with a manufacturing business to boot?
“Well, I got here and realised there was one train and two drivers. I needed to do something else,” the Aussie said, laughing.
Mr Corboy had a background in cabinet making and a long-held passion for design, so voila – Mal Corboy Design was born.
He sold his manufacturing arm in 2006 after more than 10 years in production – he said it was too much hassle – but his designs are still sought after.
Since 2002, Mr Corboy has won 22 awards, including prestigious international gongs, and he has been both Australia and New Zealand’s kitchen designer of the year… More
Armageddon Announces a Hamilton Event for 2012

Armageddon Hamilton! No it’s not the end of the world – its Hamilton’s newest and largest pulp culture event!
Claudelands Events Centre has won the right to host the hugely successful Armageddon Expo. The three year contract with the show’s promoters will see fans from all over the country attend Hamilton’s first ever expo on Saturday April 14th and Sunday 15th 2012.
Armageddon is a firmly established event in New Zealand’s pulp culture and Waikato residents already support the event with over 4,000 tickets to the 2010 Auckland show being sold in the Waikato region. Claudelands’ three large inter-connected venues under the same roof, plenty of outdoor space with easy indoor/outdoor flow and a central city location meant the venue was an easy choice for Armageddon Expo organiser Bill Geradts.
“Armageddon has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, expanding into the ASBShowground in Auckland, so Hamilton was a logical next step. The Claudelands Events Center offers Armageddon a perfect venue for showcasing the gaming and entertainment market as well as bringing international celebrities to the Waikato. We are expecting numerous local companies to participate as well as exhibitors from all over NZ,” said Mr Geradts. More >
