Looking Very Tasty

Forklift lifting forks

What the fork? That's a lot of cutlery.

Victoria Park currently has almost as many trucks on site as marquees, delivering all the awnings, stove tops, bars, staging and flooring tiles in preparation for the big launch of Taste of New Zealand tomorrow 5:30pm. As well as the multitude of chattels, don’t forget the massive amount of cutlery, plates, napkins and glassware that will be needed to serve the masses this weekend! Boxes of the stuff, so much so a forklift is needed to lift all the forks.

Chef Jonny Schwass preps the pan

This afternoon we managed to pop down to The Cloud to catch up with Christchurch chef Jonny Schwass. Jonny was up to demonstrate one of his beautiful Canterbury lamb dishes as part of Taste at the Cloud, which was very well received by the the masses bustling around the waterfront. Make sure you catch Jonny at The Taste of New Zealand Festival, for more info on Restaurant Schwass and all the other fantastic restaurant’s menus, click this link ‘ere.

A Near Dearth Experience

Wine on Wyndham

If only being stuck in traffic was always this good.

The Taste of New Zealand Festival are running a really cool promotion in the lead up to the event called Urban Grilla Campaign, where entrants submit photos of themselves grilling or dining in iconic New Zealand locations. The prize is great – a table for 10 in the Carlton Corporate Marquee worth $3500! Even though we can’t win, we thought it would be cool to get involved. Michael Dearth from The Grove made us feel comfortable and relaxed even in the middle of traffic, now that’s a great host!
