With a final rattle of the shakers and finishing flourishes, the Bar Masters winner has been decided. Impressing the judges with their creativity and flair in an exciting live final, it was ultimately Hannah Waters from Mea Culpa who had the edge and took out the title with a clever cocktail titled ‘Je Ne C’est Quoi’ – French for ‘I Don’t Know What’.
“Hannah’s cocktail showed originality, imagination and a splash of brilliance” says Tomas Vikario, Bar Masters MC and special guest from Monin. “I was very impressed with the amazing cocktails made by the final four competitors, it is always fascinating to see the inventive way they use Monin ingredients”.
Claiming the Bar Masters 2011 title, Hannah takes away a fantastic prize from sponsor MONIN, a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The trip will give her the opportunity to see the top bars in the area and the fascinating MONIN factory.

King of Shaves – ‘Shaveolution’ Event – May 31st

New kid on the block, King of Shaves, held an exquisitely presented cocktail party at the Auckland Museum on Monday — proving that they are indeed ready to take on the big names in the shaving business.
Playing on the theme of ‘Shaveolution&, which came from the brand&s new television commercial, the Origins Gallery was dressed to the nines with a giant bone razor, live models dressed as Museum exhibits and a beautiful Shaving Squad.
Guests sipped on hand mixed cocktails, fantastic New Zealand wine or beer while wandering around the artefact filled hall. Men and women alike were also invited to have their faces and legs shaved, with many recognisable faces taking part. Artist Billy Apple, a contemporary to Andy Warhol, and Aja Rock both bravely sat in the barber&s chair during the night.
Entrepreneur and CEO, Will King, flew over from the UK for the event and spoke briefly on the origin of the brand and his constant mission to “bring down the price of shaving.†King inspired the audience with his story of starting with nothing and developing a product that is now rivalling the top in the business.
What a fantastic entrance into New Zealand&s public consciousness for Will King and the King of Shaves.
